John David Gosch , a 12-year-old boy, disappeared on September 5, 1982, while on his paper route in West Des Moines, Iowa. His mysterious disappearance has captivated the nation and sparked numerous theories and speculation about what may have happened to him. John’s mother, Noreen Gosch , hired private investigators to look into her son’s disappearance. She believes he was kidnapped and sold into a pedophile prostitution ring. She claimed she was visited by her son when she testified during a 1999 pedophile crime organization trial in Nebraska. On September 5, 1982, 12-year-old Johnny Gosch vanished while running his newspaper route in West Des Moines, Iowa. Over 40 years later, the case remains unsolved. Four decades later, the search for Johnny – and the other two boys – is not over. NCMEC believes that new technologies and genetic testing might provide his family with some answers if DNA from relatives could be obtained. If Johnny is still alive, there could be children, even grandchildren. Johnny Gosch , a 12-year-old paperboy, vanished in 1982, sparking one of America’s most chilling missing child cases. His whereabouts remain unknown. Johnny was last seen around 6 a.m. By a friend as they picked up their Sunday newspapers at the paper drop at 42nd Street and Ashworth Road. Minutes later, the friend spotted Johnny talking to a man wearing a baseball cap near 42nd Street and Marcourt Lane. John Gosch quickly started searching the neighborhood for his son. John later told The Des Moines Register, “We went searching and found his little red wagon. Every single [newspaper] was in his wagon.” In a state of panic, John and Noreen Gosch promptly contacted the local authorities. Noreen Gosch , of West Des Moines, Iowa, whose 12-year-old son, John David, vanished from his paper route on the morning of Sept. 5, 1982, recalls the sheer “physical pain” of the vigil.
