CLINTON — Clay and Sheila Fletcher , whose daughter Lacey tragically passed away under horrifying conditions while living on their couch, testified in an East Feliciana Parish courtroom Wednesday that they were merely carrying out her wishes before her death. Lacey Ellen Fletcher , 36, suffered from nearly complete paralysis–a condition known as locked-in syndrome. On Jan, 3, 2022, she was found dead on her parents’ couch. Covered in feces and emaciated, her body had reportedly “melted” into the couch. Lacey Ellen Fletcher, 36, could not move. Living in nearly complete paralysis with a condition referred to as “ locked - in ” syndrome , she relied entirely on the care and attention of her parents. The small town of Slaughter, Louisiana, has been thrust into the national spotlight following the harrowing case of Lacey Ellen Fletcher , a 36-year-old autistic woman found dead in her family home in January 2022. He was called out to the small white suburban house with the well manicured lawn - he could tell someone had died there judging by the smell. He walked into the living room and there in the center was a couch. The living room was organized, tidy even, except this couch was at the center covered in feces. The smell was stinging his eyes. A couple pleaded no contest after their disabled daughter, Lacey Fletcher , melted into a couch after being grievously neglected under thier care. Sheila and Clay Fletcher will not defend themselves after authorities found their daughter deceased in a state of extreme neglect. Lacey Ellen Fletcher was a 36-year-old woman from Slaughter, Louisiana, who suffered from autism and later developed locked-in syndrome, leaving her nearly paralyzed and unable to communicate.
