The man, Tyler Canaris , filed a federal lawsuit on Sept. 22 claiming civil rights violations and seeking unspecified damages for “his physical and mental pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment. The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to FOX 5 that Michael McMaster was terminated on Feb. 27 due to other policy violations. McMaster is accused of slamming 30-year-old Tyler Canaris to the ground during an arrest in March 2022. On March 4, 2022, officers were dispatched for a suspicious person who was breaking into cars. McMaster located Canaris and gave him a series of commands, which Canaris did not follow. McMaster grabbed Canaris and threw him to the ground. [1] [2] The incident was captured on an in-vehicle camera. [2] Canaris was charged with obstruction of justice. Michael McMaster was fired by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office for policy violations not related to an incident caught on dash cam video where he is seen body slamming a man while taking. “You match the description of someone trying to break into people cars,” Paulding County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael McMaster could be heard saying on camera. I’m not breaking into anyone’s cars,” Canaris said right before the deputy grabbed him and threw him to the ground. Dashcam video of the incident from March 2022 shows former deputy Michael McMaster encountering a man, later identified as Tyler Canaris , who he described as “matching the description of a suspect breaking into cars.”. Tyler Canaris is represented by Shean Williams and Sam Starks of The Cochran Firm for all civil charges and by Torris Butterfield on his criminal charges. Canaris was initially stopped and questioned on March 4 by Paulding County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael McMaster . Deputy Michael McMaster was placed on administrative duty on February 17th after a video of the incident went viral, nearly a year after the incident occurred, prompting the GBI to investigate the matter independently. Dashcam video showed Deputy Michael McMaster abruptly body-slam a man to the ground, breaking his skull and collar bone, according to the victim’s lawyers.
