Jodi Arias killed her ex-lover Travis Alexander in 2008. He was shot, stabbed, and nearly decapitated. She was sentenced to life in prison. For 2 years after the murder , Mr. Arias claimed that two masked intruders broke into the home and killed Mr. On June 4 , 2008 , Travis Alexander was found dead in his home in Mesa, Arizona. He had been brutally attacked, suffering multiple stab wounds, a gunshot to the head, and his throat had been slit. The gruesome nature of the crime shocked the community and led to an immediate investigation. Jodi Arias, 32, was found guilty of first-degree murder in the June 2008 killing of her on-and-off lover, Travis Alexander. Jodi and Travis ’s relationship and sex life became the focus on the trial. Jodi’s claim of self-defense didn’t sway the jury, and she was found guilty of first-degree murder after only 15 hours of deliberating. Was she in fact the victim of domestic abuse ? Or was Travis’s death a premeditated revenge attack committed by a jilted lover? This is the exact question the new jury will have to try and answer, having been sworn in, in October 2014, to decide her fate. Jodi Arias reacts after she was found of guilty of first-degree murder in the gruesome killing her one-time boyfriend, Travis Alexander , in their suburban Phoenix home, Wednesday, May 8, 2013,. Arias faces a possible death sentence if convicted of first-degree murder in the June 2008 killing of Travis Alexander in his suburban Phoenix home. Authorities say she planned the attack on her. The sheer brutality of the attack, the calculated nature of the shower photos, and the lack of credible evidence supporting Arias’s claims of abuse led to a guilty verdict for first-degree murder .
