Dial 911 for emergencies or dial *NHP (*647) to report drunk drivers, traffic crashes, stranded or disabled motorists, or any suspicious roadside incidents to the Nevada Highway Patrol . NDOT is proud to announce that our Freeway Service Patrol is by GEICO. The Nevada Highway Patrol provided new statistics about wrong way driver crashes and deaths. Officials say the 2023 and 2024 information is preliminary and may change. Various organizations in Nevada have been working to find a solution to this problem. For example, the Las Vegas Metro Police and Nevada Highway Patrol joined together to form the DUI Strike Team in an attempt to decrease the number of impaired drivers on the road. The role of the Nevada Advisory Committee on Traffic Safety (NVACTS) is to provide guidance, approval, and consensus on the Highway Safety Plan, among the many local, state, and federal agencies with a stake in traffic safety. NDOT’s FSP program aims to provide quick and safe clearance of traffic incidents including crashes, abandoned or disabled vehicles, debris, scene safety and other situations such as fires or hazardous spills in under 15 minutes. The Nevada Department of Transportation hopes to give traffic enforcers another tool this year with installation of new wrong- way driving signs at U.S. 95 and Durango Drive in northwest Las.
